Jakarta – Presiden Joko Widodo menerima kedatangan anggota Dewan Pers periode 2022-2025 di Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, pada Senin, 6 Februari 2023. Dalam pertemuan tersebut, Presiden Jokowi antara lain menekankan pentingnya kebebasan pers yang bertanggung jawab dengan berdasarkan pada prinsip-prinsip dan etika jurnalistik.
“Bapak Presiden memberikan pesan penting bahwa jangan hanya bicara kebebasan pers, tetapi yang terpenting adalah pemberitaan yang bertanggung jawab. Pemberitaan yang bertanggung jawab adalah pemberitaan yang dikonfirmasi kebenarannya menggunakan prinsip-prinsip etika jurnalistik yang baik. Jadi kalau cuma bebas sebebas-bebasnya tanpa tanggung jawab banyak nanti yang akan dirugikan apalagi menjelang pemilu,” ujar Ketua Dewan Pers Ninik Rahayu dalam keterangannya selepas pertemuan.
Dalam pertemuan tersebut, Ninik dan jajarannya juga menyampaikan sejumlah program kerja besar Dewan Pers kepada Kepala Negara. Program-program tersebut meliputi pendataan ratifikasi pers, pengaduan dan penegakan etika pers, serta peningkatan kapabilitas wartawan.
“Kami sampaikan kepada Bapak Presiden hal-hal yang sudah kami capai dan PR-PR yang kami masih miliki karena jumlah pengaduan terus meningkat, tetapi ada beberapa upaya peningkatan kapasitas yang dilakukan, difasilitasi Dewan Pers dan tentu salah satunya adalah dukungan dari pemerintah,” jelasnya.
Di samping itu, Dewan Pers juga menyampaikan soal kemajuan dalam penanganan kasus-kasus insan pers. Menurut Ninik, saat ini telah ada nota kesepahaman (MoU) antara Dewan Pers dengan Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia (Polri).
“Sekarang ini posisinya sedang terus kami sosialisasikan agar mereka sampai di tingkat paling bawah memahami bagaimana cara penyelesaian kasus-kasus pers. Walaupun ada kasus-kasus yang berdimensi pidana memang menjadi ranah Kepolisian,” imbuhnya.
Dalam pertemuan tersebut, Ninik juga menyampaikan bahwa Presiden Joko Widodo akan menghadiri puncak acara Hari Pers Nasional yang akan diselenggarakan pada 9 Februari 2023 di Medan. “Ini adalah kehadiran langsung setelah dua tahun masa pandemi, setelah sebelumnya kehadiran secara online,” ungkapnya.
Turut hadir mendampingi Presiden Jokowi dalam pertemuan tersebut yaitu Menteri Sekretaris Negara Pratikno. Sementara itu, Ketua Dewan Pers Ninik Rahayu didampingi oleh Wakil Ketua Dewan Pers Muhammad Agung Dharmajaya dan para anggota Dewan Pers yakni Arif Zulkifli, Yadi Hendriana, Totok Suryanto, Atmaji Sapto Anggoro, Asmono Wikan, serta Paulus Tri Agung Kristianto.
