Ketua Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat Republik Indonesia sekaligus Wakil Ketua Umum Partai Golkar Bambang Soesatyo acungkan jempol ketika satu klan Gelael yang merupakan idola penonton Reli Danau Toba, Sean, dipaksa berhenti dari balapan akibat kerusakan teknis, satu nama lagi, Ricardo, mencuat dan di luar dugaan secara fantastis berhasil naik podium untuk Jagonya Ayam Motorsport.

Ricardo belakangan ini memang kerap ikut reli menemani Sean anaknya, tapi statusnya lebih banyak sebagai peserta ekshibisi. Namun kali ini beda, masuknya kembali Reli Danau Toba ke dalam kalender Kejuaraan Reli Asia Pasifik membuat Ricardo tertantang ingin tampil sebagai kompetitor murni di kelas utama.

 

Usianya yang sudah 63 tahun memang berpengaruh, terutama pada hari pertama lomba, Sabtu (24/9), yang panjang dan melelahkan. Namun Ricardo bersyukur karena sepanjang reli mobil Citroen C3 Rally2-nya tak bermasalah.

“Tentu saja saya senang, karena sudah lama gak balapan dalam level kompetisi tinggi seperti Reli Danau Toba ini dan ternyata masih bisa bersaing. Secara umum saya berterima kasih kepada yang telah mendukung saya, mulai dari keluarga hingga tim, tim mekanik, hingga tim Citroen Portugal yang sangat membantu dalam hal teknis mobil,” ujar Ricardo yang adalah juara nasional reli Indonesia 2006.

 

Sang co-driver, Rony Maroun, juga tak kalah senang. Pria asal Lebanon ini tak menyangka partisipasi pertamanya di Indonesia langsung berbuah podium.

“Saya akui, Reli Danau Toba adalah salah satu yang tersulit yang pernah saya alami. Lintasan juga masuk kategori terbaik di dunia. Saya beruntung ditopang oleh tim yang solid, mulai dari pebalap selevel Ricardo, lalu tim engineer dan mekanik, hingga tim di belakang layar lainnya. Balapan ini sungguh tak terlupakan bagi saya,” ujar Rony yang baru pertama kali ke Indonesia itu.

Sementara itu masalah beruntun yang dialami Sean, mulai dari penalti di Leg 1 dan kerusakan water pump di SS9 yang merupakan awal Leg 2 pada Minggu memaksanya statusnya berubah, dari peserta menjadi suporter sang ayah.

Ketika Sean hadir di SS terakhir, 12, di Aek Nauli, dia dielu-elukan penonton yang memang biasanya tumpah ruah di sana. Ini menjadi seperti keberkahan tersendiri bagi mereka karena bisa melihat langsung Sean di pinggir lintasan.

 

“Saya menikmati momen berada di tengah penonton dan mendukung ayah sendiri, legenda balap Indonesia. Selamat ya, Pa! Ikut bangga dengan podiumnya,” kata Sean.

Sang co-driver, Hugo Magalhaes, lebih filosofis menyikapi kegagalan mereka meraih kemenangan. “Kami ikut 9 SS dan selalu jadi yang tercepat di setiap SS-nya. Masalah pada water pump membuat kami tak bisa lanjut setelah SS9. Itulah motorsport, terkadang kejam,” ujar pria asal Portugal itu.

Pasangan Rifat Sungkar/Benjamin Searchy memenangi Reli Danau Toba, baik untuk kelas APRC maupun Kejuaraan Nasional Indonesia, menjadi juara pertama. Rifat/Benjamin yang mengendarai Mitsubishi Expander mengungguli duet penggeber Skoda Fabia, Musa Rajekshah/Hervian Soejono, juara kedua dan Ricardo Gelael/Rony Maroun, juara ketiga.
