Ketua Umum Dewan Pimpinan Pusat Serikat Pers Republik Indonesia (DPP SPRI) Hence Mandagi menegaskan, Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasin Limpo wajib dipidana 2 tahun penjara.

Menurutnya, pengusiran terhadap wartawan yang sedang meliput berita oleh Menteri Syahrul Yasin Limpo adalah perbuatan pidana sebagaimana diatur dalam Pasal 18 Ayat (1) Undang-Undang Nomor 40 Tahun 1999 tentang Pers.

Selama ini, Mandagi mengatakan, pasal pidana dalam UU Pers belum pernah diterapkan ketika wartawan dilarang atau dihalangi melakukan peliputan. “Padahal sangat jelas dalam UU Pers disebutkan bahwa setiap orang yang secara melawan hukum dengan sengaja melakukan tindakan yang berakibat menghambat atau menghalangi wartawan mencari dan memperoleh informasi dipidana 2 tahun penjara dan denda lima ratus juta rupiah,” ungkap Mandagi melalui siaran pers yang dikirim ke redaksi Minggu (7/11/2021).

Untuk itu Ia menandaskan, Menteri Yasin Limpo wajib dikenakan pidana penjara 2 tahun dan denda sebesar 500 juta rupiah jika terbukti melakukan pengusiran terhadap wartawan di depan umum dalam kegiatan pelepasan ekspor pinang ke negara Pakistan pada Sabtu (6/11/2021) di gudang biji pinang CV. Indokara di Jalan Suak Kandis, Desa Pudak III, Kumpe Ulu, Kabupaten Muaro Jambi, Provinsi Jambi.

Tindakan yang dilakukan Menteri Yasin Limpo saat kunjungan ke Jambi ini, lanjut Mandagi, wajib menjadi perhatian serius Presiden RI Joko Widodo. “Presiden perlu memasukan dalam daftar reshufle, menteri yang tidak menghargai Profesi Wartawan. Terlebih tindakan pengusiran wartawan saat meliput adalah perbuatan pidana menurut UU Pers,” pungkasnya.

Selama ini perbuatan pidana pelarangan peliputan terhadap wartawan hanya berujung permintaan maaf oleh pelaku. “Namun untuk pembelajaran kepada publik agar kasus serupa tidak terulang lagi, Polri wajib mengusut dan memproses kasus Menteri Yasin Limpo ini usai ketentuan pidana yang berlaku,” imbuhnya.
