*MEDAN* – Ketua MPR RI sekaligus Pelindung Perhimpunan Kebun Binatang se-Indonesia (PKBSI) Bambang Soesatyo mengapresiasi keberadaan Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery di Medan Sumatera Utara yang mengoleksi sekitar 5.000 specimen dari 2.600 jenis spesies binatang dari seluruh dunia yang diawetkan. Ribuan koleksi binatang tersebut merupakan bintang yang sudah mati, hasil berburu yang dilegalkan, ataupun hasil sumbangan lembaga serta dari teman-teman pemilik galeri. Kesemuanya terlihat utuh dan nyata seperti saat masih hidup.

“Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery dimiliki oleh Ketua Umum Perhimpunan Kebun Binatang Se-Indonesia (PKBSI) Rahmat Shah. Ini merupakan galery satwa liar pertama di Asia Tenggara. Rahmat Shah juga merupakan orang pertama dari Indonesia yang menerima penghargaan dan pengakuan internasional sebagai The Big Five Grand Slam Awards dan World Hunting Awards,” ujar Bamsoet usai mengunjungi Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery bersama Menko Polhukam Mahfud MD, di Medan, Kamis (9/2/23).

Ketua DPR RI ke-20 dan mantan Ketua Komisi III DPR RI bidang Hukum, HAM, dan Keamanan ini menjelaskan, kepedulian serta kecintaan Rahmat Shah terhadap pelestarian hewan sangatlah besar. Melalui galeri yang dimilikinya, Rahmat Shah mencoba mengajak masyarakat luas belajar mengenal dan mencintai satwa, serta menggugah kepedulian untuk menjadi bagian dari komunitas pelindung satwa.

“Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery terdiri dari tiga lantai. Lantai pertama diisi koleksi binatang buas seperti Singa, Badak Putih, Cheetah, Gajah dan Banteng yang digabung dalam African Big Five. Terdapat pula Bear Room yang berisi berbagai jenis beruang, Pheasants of The World yang memamerkan berbagai jenis burung, aneka jenis hewan kucing, baik kecil maupun besar, tersedia dalam koleksi Cats of the World, serta ada ruangan Night Safari,” kata Bamsoet.

Wakil Ketua Umum Pemuda Pancasila dan Wakil Ketua Umum FKPPI ini menambahkan, di lantai dua Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery memamerkan beragam jenis serangga, mulai dari kupu-kupu, semut, nyamuk dan kumbang langka. Selain itu, terdapat hewan-hewan khas Indonesia, seperti Harimau Sumatra, Komodo, Burung Mambrukย  serta Ular Kobra Raja. Ada pula kerangka Kuda Nil, kerangka Orang Utan dan kerangka Gajah.

Tidak hanya memamerkan binatang yang diawetkan, Rahmat International Wildlife Museum & Gallery juga mengoleksi foto dan barang-barang pribadi milik selebritis, aktor, musisi hingga olahragawan dunia. Semisal, jersey klub bola dunia yang dipenuhi tanda-tangan para pemainnya, koleksi piringan hitam dari Michael Jackson, serta sarung tinju bertanda tangan milik Mike Tyson dan Muhammad Ali,” pungkas Bamsoet.
