Suatu ketika saat saya sedang duduk santai bersama putri pertama saya di teras rumah Kepala Staf Presiden, yakni Pak Moeldoko di Menteng Jakarta Pusat, saya bertemu seseorang yang ternyata beliau itu merupakan kakak kandung dari Pak Moeldoko. Nama beliau Pak Soejono, seorang lelaki berpenampilan sederhana yang merupakan mantan pegawai Desa di Pesing Kediri Jawa Timur. Setelah kami berusaha saling kenal mengenal satu sama lain, beliau menceritakan pada saya tentang sosok Pak Moeldoko.
Kata beliau, Pak Moeldoko itu 12 bersaudara, dan Pak Moeldoko sendiri merupakan anak terkecil (bungsu) dari 12 bersaudara tsb. Namun sekarang keluarga Pak Moeldoko itu tinggal 4 bersaudara. Menurut cerita kakak beliau itu, Pak Moeldoko dari dulu mulai dari jadi Pangdam, Kasad, Panglima TNI hingga Kepala Staf Presiden (KSP), Pak Moeldoko selalu tidak memperbolehkan kakak-kakaknya atau keluarganya untuk mendapatkan fasilitas istimewa apalagi meminta proyek dari Pemerintah.
Maka yang terjadi kemudian seluruh saudara-saudara kandung Pak Moeldoko hidup dalam kesederhanaan, bahkan kakak kandungnya sendiri berbisnis kecil-kecilan. Beliau bahkan bercerita, bahwa dahulu beliau pernah mencari dedak untuk pakan ternaknya ke daerah-daerah termasuk pernah mencari bahan dedak hingga ke Pamanukan Subang Jawa Barat beberapa tahun yang lalu. Pak Moeldoko sendiri hingga saat ini juga hidup dalam kesederhanaan, olehnya jika kita melihat ke dalam rumah pribadi beliau di Menteng, kita akan mendapati kehidupan Pak Moeldoko yang sangat sederhana. Hampir tidak kita temukan di rumah beliau barang-barang mewah yang biasa dimiliki pejabat-pejabat tinggi selevel Pak Moeldoko.
Ya, Pak Moeldoko tidak seperti yang banyak diberitakan di media sebagai sosok yang memiliki barang-barang mewah seperti jam tangan yang harganya miliaran, karena sesungguhnya beliau aslinya hidupnya sangat sederhana. Meskipun demikian Pak Moeldoko kerap difitnah orang yang tak menghendaki idealismenya, yang tak menghendaki komitmen dan loyalitasnya mengabdi untuk kepentingan bangsa dan negara.
Pak Moeldoko yang mantan Panglima TNI dan menerima anugerah bintang empat yang saat ini menjabat sebagai Kepala Staf Presiden itu orangnya tidak hanya jujur, setia kawan, gemar menolong orang, melainkan juga dikenal hemat bicara namun kalau sudah bicara isinya padat dan langsung membahas serta memberi solusi atas berbagai persoalan. Hal yang seperti itu sudah pernah saya sendiri dan teman-teman senior lain saksikan, kalau Pak Moeldoko sudah memimpin kami rapat, beliau tidak banyak bicara yang bertele-tele, namun cukup berkata singkat dan padat, serta langsung menjurus ke topik persoalan beserta solusinya.
Kakak beliau juga bercerita, kalau Pak Moeldoko itu sedang pulang Kampung di Dusun Pesing Kediri, beliau selalu berbagi sedekah ke fakir miskin, anak-anak yatim, orang-orang jompo dan para janda. Tak hanya itu, Pak Moeldoko juga kerap membantu renovasi pembangunan infrastruktur desa, seperti pembangunan Masjid, pelebaran jembatan, jalan-jalan di pedesaan dll., hingga memudahkan arus lalu lintas transportasi antar desa sekitarnya.
Salah satu hal unik yang pernah dilakukan oleh Pak Moeldoko, adalah pembangunan Islamic Center dan Masjid Dr. H. Moeldoko di Jombang, beliau membangun Islamic Center dan Masjid itu bukan hanya untuk tujuan tempat beribadah dan kegiatan perekonomian bagi warga sekitar dan warga lainnya yang melalui jalan itu, melainkan pula sebagai sebuah kenangan masa-masa kehidupan pahit beliau yang sering diturunkan oleh kondektur Bus di tempat yang sekarang terbangun menjadi Islamic Center dan Masjid Dr. H. Moeldoko itu, karena beliau tidak mampu membayar karcis/tiket bus saat pulang dari Sekolah SMAN 2 Jombang menuju rumah di kampungnya Pesing Kediri.
Sengaja saya harus menulis tentang hal ini, karena terus terang, jika kita tidak mengenal dekat dengan Pak Moeldoko, maka kita akan banyak salah sangka mengenai sosok beliau.
Kesalah fahaman orang tentang kepribadian Pak Moeldoko bisa saja terjadi, sebab kebanyakan dari kita biasanya hanya mengenal kepribadian beliau dari lawan-lawan politiknya saja yang sudah banyak mati kutu, tak bisa bergerak leluasa untuk korupsi dan berbuat kejahatan. Ini semua berkat ide-ide Pak Moeldoko yang revolusioner dan yang telah banyak diimplementasikan oleh orang-orang di sekelilingnya Pak Moeldoko, yang telah menemani beliau berjuang untuk menjaga keutuhan bangsa dan negara, serta melindungi rakyat dari prilaku-prilaku koruptif, manipulatif elit-elit politisi yang gemar membodohi dan melahap hak-hak rakyatnya.
Contoh mutakhir dari apa yang dilakukan oleh Pak Moeldoko, adalah ketika beliau dengan senang hati menerima lamaran pendiri-pendiri dan pengurus-pengurus Partai Demokrat, agar beliau bersedia memimpin Partai Demokrat dan menjadi pelindung untuk menghadapi tirani Trio Cikeas, meskipun Pak Moeldoko harus menerima resiko besar dari keberanian beliau untuk menerima tanggung jawab dari amanah yang dipikulkan pada diri beliau itu.
Beliau dituduh sebagai pembegal partai dari orang yang sesungguhnya malah menjadi pembegal partai yang sebenarnya, yakni Trio Cikeas yang sebelumnya menyingkirkan para pendiri Partai Demokrat, yang mengubah secara sepihak dan sembarangan AD/ART Partai Demokrat dan yang mengukuhkan dirinya sendiri sebagai Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat di Tahun 2013, serta yang kemudian memaksakan semua peserta Kongres untuk menerima anaknya sendiri sebagai Ketua Umum dan Wakil Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat, sementara dirinya sendiri menetapkan dirinya sendiri sebagai Ketua Majelis Tinggi Partai Demokrat yang kekuasaannya melebihi Raja Diraja yang di Partai Komunispun tidak pernah ada !.
