Pengamat : Kebijakan Trump atas Jerusalem Hancurkan Perdamaian

JAKARTA – Pengamat Timur Tengah dari Universitas Indonesia Yon Machmudi PhD mengatakan kebijakan Presiden Amerika Serikat Donald Trump yang mengakui Jerusalem sebagai ibu kota Israel telah menghancurkan masa depan perdamaian di Timur Tengah.

“Agaknya Trump ingin mengubah kebijakan AS terhadap Palestina yang dulunya masih mengakomodasi kepentingan Palestina menjadi kebijakan yang secara penuh mendukung segala kepentingan dan kebijakan Israel,” kata Yon yang juga Ketua Program Pascasarjana Kajian Timur Tengah dan Islam UI, di Jakarta, Kamis.

Padahal, katanya, Jerusalem diakui Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) sebagai status quo dan Palestina tetap menjadikannya sebagai ibu kota Palestina merdeka.

Menurut Yon, Trump ingin menunjukkan secara terang-terangan sikap AS yang mendukung pelanggaran hak asasi terberat di dunia.

Di sisi lain, lobi Israel di AS dinilai telah berhasil meyakinkan Trump bahwa AS tidak bisa lagi setengah-setengah dalam mendukung Israel.

“Trump tidak peduli dengan perdamaian kawasan di Timur Tengah secara umum dan lebih memilih untuk memuaskan Israel sebagai mitra setianya di Timur Tengah,” ujar dosen di Fakultas Ilmu Budaya (FIB) UI itu.

Oleh karena itu, tegas Yon, dunia internasional harus menolak kebijakan Trump yang tidak bertanggung jawab ini.

Di sinilah, lanjut Yon, dunia diuji ketulusannya dalam menciptakan perdamaian dan menghormati nilai-nilai kemanusiaan.

Dia menambahkan, membela Palestina tidak ada nilai ekonomisnya tetapi lebih pada tanggung jawab kemanusiaan.

Tapi, katanya, kalau dunia internasional termasuk Indonesia tidak peduli maka hancurlah tatanan dunia karena dikalahkan oleh kepentingan ekonomi.

“Solidaritas dunia perlu digalang guna mengisolasi AS dan Israel yang telah menunjukkan rendahnya komitmen terhadap perdamaian dunia,” demikian Yon Machmudi. (ant/foto: ist)
