KESBANG.COM, MAROKO – Mengubah limbah kulit ikan menjadi kulit mewah untuk membuat tas tangan, sepatu atau sarung telepon genggam adalah tantangan yang ditangani secara cemerlang oleh perusahaan SeaSkin Maroko.

SeaSkin, yang didirikan oleh Nawal Alloui, siswa di Sekolah Menengah Tekstil dan Industri Pakaian (Esith), membuat dan memasarkan barang mewah yang dibuat dari kulit ikan.

Perempuan muda itu, yang seringkali mengunjungi daerah pantai Casablanca, mengetahui dengan sangat baik spesies ikan. Dari sana, ia menemukan limbah yang bernilai emas.

Kulit ikan, yang dipandang sebagai limbah, biasanya berakhir jadi sampah yang bertumpuk di tempat sampah dan membusuk, sampai saat Nawal melihat harta yang tersembunyi di balik kulit ikan tersebut, kata Xinhua. Ia pun “memberi kulit ikan itu kehidupan kedua”.

“Gagasannya muncul di dalam diri saya ketika saya bekerja di perusahaan sosial bersama istri para nelayan yang membersihkan ikan dan membuat tulang belakang bulu babi laut di Wilayah Casablanca,” kata siswi tersebut.

Setelah beberapa kali percobaan di kamarnya di asrama sekolah Esith, Nawal bisa menciptakan resep ajaib untuk menyamak kulit ikan, berdasarkan produk organik Maroko, seperti “henna” (daun pacar).

Pecinta lingkungan hidup itu memperoleh kulit ikan mentah dari restoran ikan dan pabrik “fillet” ikan, sebelum menyerahkannya kepada kaum perempuan, yang berjumlah enam orang, untuk membersihkan kulit tersebut dengan menghilangkan sisa daging ikan dan mencucinya secara keseluruhan.

Hari berikutnya dipusatkan pada penyamakan dengan menggunakan daun-daunan; Nawal mencuci kulit ikan itu secara bertahap dengan menggunakan produk alamiah. Akhirnya, kulit ikan tersebut siap untuk diberi pewarna yang disesuaikan dengan produk yang akan dihasilkan.

Pada akhir rangkaian itu, sentuhan akhir ialah meratakan dan mengeringkan kulit untuk menciptakan produk mewah dari kulit.

Jadi, dari pertemuan antara kulit ikan dan tangan perancang muda tersebut lahirlah produksi mewah dari kulit ikan yang akan membuat puas orang yang mencintai produk asli dengan tekstur eksotik.

Namun, apakah barang itu memiliki aroma seperti ikan? “Tidak! Sebab minyak, yang secara alamiah ada di kulit ikan, diganti oleh penyamakan alamiah atau minyak pelindung, sehingga barangnya beraroma kulit biasa,” kata Nawal.

Untuk memasarkan produknya, Nawal menjualnya secara daring. Keberhasilan tampaknya membayang. Mula-mula, SeaSkin telah menanam modal bahan daur ulang. Lalu, perusahaan itu memanfaatkan momentum ekologi yang mempengaruhi seluruh masyarakat dengan menawarkan barang yang terbuat dari kulit ikan.

Ekologi, keindahan dan keuletan, kulit ikan tersebut dapat segera hadir di toko dalam bentuk sepatu atau tas tangan dan akan mendorong pengusaha muda untuk mencintai lingkungan hidup, kata Nawal. (Ant/Foto: Ist)
