“Negara ini negara besar, jangan sampai pemilihan gubernur, pemilihan bupati, pemilihan wali kota, apalagi nanti menginjak pemilihan presiden 2019, jangan sampai karena pilihan berbeda sebagai akibat dari demokrasi yang kita jalankan, menjadi pecah, tidak rukun lagi, jangan! Saya ingin mengingatkan kita sebagai saudara sebangsa dan se-Tanah Air silakan pilih pemimpin negara yang paling baik, setelah itu kita kembali jadi saudara sebangsa se-Tanah Air, jangan sampai tidak saling sapa tetangga, antarkampung, antarteman, jangan,” tegas Presiden.
Ia pun meminta para anggota AMS mengingat kembali semangat dalam Piagam Pendirian AMS, yaitu melestarikan semangat para pahlawan bangsa dan tekad untuk memegang teguh ajaran-ajaran ilahi demi kebahagiaan rakyat Indonesia.
“Saya ingin bertanya apakah saudara-saudara mau terus Indonesia bersatu seperti dicita-citakan para pahlawan bangsa? Apakah saudara mau untuk terus menjaga Indonesia? Apakah saudara yakin Pancasila sebagai dasar negara dan pemersatu kita semua? Apakah saudara bersedia membela dan mengamalkan Pancasila?” tanya Presiden, yang kompak dijawab “mau dan bersedia” oleh para anggota AMS.
“Sebuah teriakan dan kesanggupan yang saya dengar teriakannya sangat maksimal sekali, kencang sekali, mau, mau. Saya bangga sekali hadir di tengah anggota Angkatan Muda Siliwangi, para pewaris semangat pahlawan Indonesia, patriot bangsa,” katanya.
